Busy and Happy

We've had a wonderful few weeks packing 'lucky packets' for our outreach projects.

As always there are moments of tenderness and moments of heartbreak. Seeing how children are cared for by the ever-generous house-mothers and teachers is heartwarming. The joy that the teddies have given is tangible and to all of you who contributed to 70 Teddies a huge and ever-lasting thank you.

Here we are at a care centre in Boksburg. We spent a really special time there and were privileged leave over 70 children a teddy and some treats. We also had enough teddies for a small care facility in Marlborough. There we handed over 15 teddies and towels. One of our favoured outreach facilities is Sizwe hospital school which we visited during the week. The children are ill and it is wonderful to see how resilient they are and how caring the teachers.

In 2017 we continue our outreach programmes and have chosen to focus on a different project. Pocket Pals which come from the wonderful Duduza doll pattern which originated in England. These dolls are even easier to make than teddies and we aim to make at least 150. The doll can be crocheted or knitted and can be made from scraps of yarn. Please contact me if you would like to participate in another fabulous project (or two).

Of course we continue with our Beanies, Bootees and tops for the Baragwanath babies. We also have patterns for these.

We end our year with a party where we will exchange handmade gifts and share lunch in a garden.

Well done to everyone who shared in our outreach projects this year. You deserve to pat yourselves on the back.

Till next time: scatter kindness like confetti.
