Workshops and new projects

As always, after a workshop new ideas abound. Thank you Lin for your great workshops and teaching ideas.

We managed to complete five pieces for a charity. These will be displayed on a wall and hopefully the cut letter quotations and the bright images will lighten someone's day.

Thank you to the Pretoria Guild for their hospitality. We also had a wonderful time exploring David Jones' lettering. (It's well worth the effort to look up some of his letter images. Loosely based on the Skeleton Roman and Versal lettering, the panels are a delight to look at and study. Note colours and placement of letters.

The 2014 project of creating folios to create signatures for A5 books is going well. I am particularly keen for the students to work 'more spontaneously', working out the designs with thought and courage before transfering the project directly onto the page. Courage is needed and although intimidating, almost everyone is managing the tasks extremely well.

I will add more images in a few weeks with explanations of process.

On this special day, may your friendships and pens flourish.
